What is a data room and when is it used?

A data room, although often virtual, is a secure online location used for the storage and distribution of documents. It is typically used during the due diligence process prior to a capital increase to review, share and disclose company documents. These documents, often strictly confidential, are usually contracts, invoices, patents and business plans.
